First things first, I have been without internet for a week and a half now.... and yes, it has been awful... I am very sorry for the lack of posts but I think if I tried to post from my phone it would probably be just as bad as me not writing at all.
Second, Thank you everyone for reading! I can't believe we've past 10K views :) I feel special... you made me feel special.
Third, there is SO much going on in our lives, it's kind of ridiculous...ridiculously good. But I will post more on all of that in the coming weeks.
Less importantly I am going to complain of my sheer lack in makeup staples over the past few weeks that are in my skin tone currently. It's sad really, I am out of base... I'm out of primer.... I'm out of concealer!!! I mean, BASICS, they are no where to be found in my awesome makeup case..... it's just sad.
Here are some items that I am going to be testing out in the next few weeks, thanks to drugstore.com:
I know it's not that much, but I have some items that I am lusting after at Ulta that I am waiting to tryout and I am kind of done reviewing anymore drugstore items for a while... not completely just for the next month or so after these.
After I give them a week or two, I will let you guys know what I think. What are you guys loving right now?
PS. I was going to write more but I am engulfed in a horrible overdose of perfume by the lady next to me at Starbucks at the moment and I am probably going to puke on her if I don't leave... right now. :)

I think I am going to start making a favorites and unfavorites list for each month.... all my favorite youtubers do it and until I get up the nerve to vlog, I will present it to you in blog form.... (First unfavorite..... trying to vlog.)
My Favorites for August:
1. Yoga, I've always loved yoga but now I have an even deeper love than I did before. I think as we get older we have a better chance of getting....stiff? Tight? Probably a combination of both, and yoga really helps combat that.... while making me more energetic. (Scary, huh?)
2. Wrecking Ball....
Every generation has that one pop star that most people don't like... and yet they are usually the most well known and talked about person in the media. Madonna, Britney, Christina, Gaga.... you get the point, and now Miley has thrown her Mickey ears out the door and joined the ranks. Though I don't want to model her life choices, her music lately has definitely been catchy and this new 'jam' has been on repeat for me over the past week.
3. Vitamin E liquid. Over 5 years ago my friend (Shout out Krystal ;)) met an older lady that had flawless skin. She asked her how she stayed so youthful looking, the lady responded, "Vitamin E".... we thought it was crazy, but the lady said she applied it on her face and it really healed all skin issues and kept her virtually wrinkle free. Obviously I want to look young for as long as I can so I started to use it... over the years I stopped and I don't know why. Last month I started up again, and I soon remembered how amazing it was. Everyday before I put my makeup on I wash my face and then apply the oil and let it rest for about 30 minutes. It helps smooth discoloration, prevent breakouts, and it keeps my skin soooooo soft. So yeah, major recommendation right hurrrr.....
4. Peace Tea. Have you had it? If you haven't you're missing out. Stop reading this and go buy some. Right now. Stop... I said stop reading. Why are you still reading? You are horrible at instructions. Anyway, I highly recommend getting some. It'll probably change your life.
5. This Magic:
I love Revlon for most everything that they make. I am a sucker for all of their 'photo finish' products and now their Color Burst lip butters have sucked me in, talk about moisture and pigment.... I am in love. Put it on your face, you will be too.
My Un-Favorites for August:
1. Auto-correct. I think we all can agree, auto-correct has caused some very uncomfortable situation in most all of our lives... and usually with people that you really don't want to have an uncomfortable situation with. Usually, always. Auto-correct, I'm pretty sure you're drunk. You really do need to go home. Now. Right now. Go. Just go.
2. 'No Idling' signs. My wonderful offspring goes to a school that does not allow you to 'idle' while waiting to pick up your children. Even if it is 95 degrees out and you are sitting in direct sunlight. Scorching rays burning through your skin.... causing you to get Strep, or heat stroke, or worse. They really don't care. I think they should allow us to sit inside the school, to prevent any of that from happening. I don't think I can handle much more... so much heat. So. much.
3. Pumpkin Spice Lattes.... OK, so actually they were on my favorites list.... until I looked up the nutrition, Did you know that they have over 400 calories????? (470 to be exact) Ain't nobody got time for that! (Well, actually I do.... I just limit my PSL intake to 3-5 a week......... that's hardly any at all.......stop judging........ you know how good they are!!)
Anywho.... this is my first Fav/UnFav list.... I hope it didn't bore you too much. See you Friday! Happy Hump day!
It's a makeup review! I know it's been a while and I'm so excited I found something worth reviewing! Two months ago I was sent a Stila product in my Birchbox. (I hope you are already subscribed... if now subscribe here: Birchbox Subscription ) I looked at it for a hot second and then put it away purely because of the color. It was VIVID red. I have semi-rather large lips and the bolder the color they are the more massive they appear on my face.... at least that is how I feel. So I dismissed the product and went on my merry way.
This past Friday I was cleaning out some of my makeup collection (hoarding) and saw this again:
I thought, why not give it a try. I'm not going to lie to you I did not believe that it would stay all day or that it would be anything that I would be interested in.... but I tried it anyway.
First off, it's not really a lipstick. It's like a gloss that dries into a matte finish, liquid lipstick...whatever. I did not put a gloss over it because I was not sure if that would affect the integrity of the 'stay all day'. I personally liked the matte finish. I ate a meal, kissed my Mini and my other half multiple times, drank too much Starbucks, and did not reapply all day. This is how it held up:
First hour. Obviously felt B.A. with a color this bold. Make sure you put it everywhere you want. Note the inside of my lips I missed.
Hour 4. Staying strong after an Americano and sandwich.
Hour 6. (Instagram filter. Deal with it.) Still staying strong. Made it through tea and kisses (AND DOES NOT SMUDGE OR LEAVE A MARK) Score.
Hour 8. Finally after hours I started to see wear on the inside of my lips.
All in all I was shocked. I loved the wear. It lasted 8 hours without issue. It doesn't rub off. And after 8 hours I had to scrub it off with face wash. But once off it doesn't leave a stain on your lips which I love, especially with such a bold color.
I totally recommend this product (I ordered it in a lighter color for more daily wear though).
So, it's one of the last few weeks of the summer.... Which means I had to get Strep Throat. Obviously. This always happens. Always. It is the worst. (For those of you that have had it.... you know there is no fun in it... none at all. Nada.)
But as you know I try to make the best of a crappy (scratchy, swollen throat....fever....death warmed over) situation. I wanted to help any of you out there also get through this as painless as possible.
My step by step to getting through Strep:
1. Figure out you have strep... they'll probably put one of these on you:
2. Get some medicine for it:
3. Get a crap ton of liquids (soup and tea for me):
4. Take a nap.
5. Take a cold shower....or ten.
6. Watch TV (I chose a marathon of this guy):
7. Shop for clothes on sites that make you feel like you are getting a discount and then you just end up buying more stuff.
8. Try not to pass out from your fever.
9. Try to surround yourself with people that want to baby the crap out of you with back massages and head massages.... if you can't find of those just pay someone at a spa to do it and pretend that they are your actual friend. (And make sure to wear your mask...so you don't get them sick)
10. Finally, don't drink wine with Strep..... I've heard that can be trippy.... that's just what I've heard.
(And make sure you wear lots of makeup....because you can almost fake yourself into believing that you aren't as sick as you really are)
In that time I think I have learned a few things. I probably have learned less than I would like to admit, but that is beside the point. I do know I've learned a thing or two, or ten. I really feel that it is only fair that I share those things with you... so that you too can be as wise as me. You're welcome.
1. Abraham Lincoln was super smart. When in doubt Google a quote from him and post it on your social networks... it'll make you look a lot smarter than you actually are:
(See! I already seem smarter... don't I? Don't lie to yourself. Stop it. Just admit how smart I seem.)
2. Bacon cures most everything. Broken hearts. Rashes. Allergies. Hangovers. Sleep deprivation. Swimmers ear. Forest fires... even hunger.
3. You will, eventually, turn into your mother. Luckily my child is going to just become more awesome when that happens. You're welcome, honey.
4. After 25 your body starts to depreciate, just like a car. Gravity happens, and a lot of other bad things do as well.... that is why God granted us the ability to smear weird creams on, squeeze into weird contraptions to make us look less....saggy, and most importantly, many...many Apps on our iPhones to edit the pictures of us that make us look like versions of ourselves we never have been and never will be.
5. Barney was a cult. He convinced us that cleaning was fun. That everyone loves everyone. And that all problems could be solved with a song and a hug from a masked man in a dinosaurs costume. Sadly I still feel happy when I see his face... and it remind me the world is a happy place.... when Barney is around.
6. If you have WebMD you really do not need an actual doctor. You ARE a real doctor with WebMD.
7. All those matching outfits that your parents put you and your siblings in when you were younger.... there was no excuse for that cruelty... but you still will probably do the same thing to your kids. (Character building....right?)
8. When someone asks how you are.... don't tell them. Not all of it. Ain't nobody has time for that. Unless their your best friend. Then lay it on them. But don't be so open. Not everyone deserves that.
9. You MUST have a theme song for your life. It will make your whole existence worth while, in a way that it wouldn't be without it. If you don't have one stop whatever you're doing and go get one. NOW. Seriously. I'm not joking. Here's mine (Thanks mom for playing this throughout my entire childhood):
10. And finally, I make entirely way too many lists.... and in no way am I upset about that..... it probably will always happen. Sorry. Not Sorry.
Happy Friday!
I tried dark lips. It worked okay. For a hot second. Then ended up all over my face. #firstworldproblems
I haven't done a makeup/hair update in forever but I have made enough changes this summer to my 'look' to merit an update.... at least I think so.
So here goes.
This spring I went from my re-virginized hair to an ombre hair look of sorts:
Then I messed it up:
Then I got it fixed:
Then I got bored and decided to do this to it:
\
I have to say out of them all this is my favorite and I think it's going to stay around for a while (Yes, my hair grew over six inches in like a week....hush yourself).
As for makeup, this is what I am wearing above and am really loving right now:
(Click on the items to link up to the product details)
You know I love a good makeup review, and today is no exception. I have been trying out different items that I would not usually purchase on the regular. So here it goes:
I am always searching for different make up items I have not used, and I have always wanted to try highlighters but I have oil skin so I have steered clear. But something made me want to try this, It is MICA shimmering powder in Earth (I don't know why it's name is Earth, it's definitely pink) But I think it actually worked really well and gave me the highlight that I was looking for:
After application:
Next, I have always avoided red lipstick because my lips are....large.... but this color makes me so happy and I have a mad love affair with Rimmel Kate lipsticks.
I love trying new hair products and May's Ipsy had a product that I had not tried before, it is Beauty Protector, Protect and Detangle. I am obsessed with this product, I put it in my hair after my shower and it works wonders. Just read the label and you'll see what all it promises and I've found delivers. I definitely recommend this:
After use:
So these are some of the new items that I am loving! What have you been loving?
Here is what I did to my hair this weekend, I added highlights to create the 'ombre' effect, after getting shotty work at Mario Tricoci (That story is for another time)....
I love it. (Note EPIC shades ;))
Here are my makeup favorites (Drugstore version at the moment) Click on the items to take you to the items!
Today I am rocking an awesome dress from ASOS.COM and my makeup from above, here is what they look like on me.....
So I used to be a tanning bed addict. I went way to much. I was not 'naturally' as pigmented as those around me were led to believe. I knew it was bad for me, caused wrinkles and I was stupid. And young. Then I switched to spray tans....then lotion. It's been a whole thing, I don't really need to get into it. You get the point. But there are rare occasions that I grace these beds. These tanning bulbs. Just sometimes. And over the years I have observed some things not to do while in the presence of a tanning bed, and here they are:
1. First and foremost, Falling asleep, it's a no-no. Like the biggest no-no out there...and yet this is what I used to do EVERYTIME I tanned...until I found the stand ups. They saved my life. Although I am pretty terrified that I will fall asleep in one of those [FACEBURNNNNN] I can only imagine.
2. Using tingling lotion with sensitive skin, let's just say I didn't know what tingler did. The end. It was awful. Let's drop it [Ralph: Taste like burning].
3. Putting oil on.... now, I did not DO THIS, but I've known people that have.... This is how I feel about that:
4. Not locking the door.... guilty. Leads to awkward, "Oh..sorry I didn't see....I didn't know....I'm just going to leave now." situations.
5. Walking in on someone that did not lock the door.... like number 4 but reverse...and more comical.
6. Forgetting to put your hair up and having hair lines... the joys and trials of having long hair. Always remember a hair tie. No one wants weird tan lines....except this lady maybe:
Unforgiving tan lines= never a good time.
7. Using the tanning stickers.... It just makes you look easy. Yes, I had one in high school. Thank goodness I wore overalls to class. That kind of trumped the sticker. Completely.
8. Having a suspicious mole and tanning anyway, don't do that. I never have, but it just is stupid. Go to the dermatologist and check that out first.
9. Singing at the top of your lungs, I did/do this all the time. Most recent (No I won't tell you when...last week) I was singing to one of my favorite old-school Eminem songs and they switched stations on me...mid-song. Not cool. Not cool brah.
10. Falling out of the tanning room. Okay, let's talk about this for a second. This happened to someone I know...not me last week. Sometimes those rooms are super small and the doors don't lock that well, and sometimes you wear skinny jeans to the tanning bed. And sometimes when you try to take your skinny jeans off your foot gets stuck and sometimes when your foot gets stuck you trip, and sometimes when you trip you fall into the door of the tanning room, and sometimes when you do that the door you land on swings open...and you fall out. I don't know....I just have heard that happens sometimes. And I've heard that it is super embarrassing. And that people shouldn't judge people that this happens too.
So those are my top ten tanning no-no's. In general though I encourage everyone to skip the lights and get the lotion/sprays. Save your skin and your pocket! Happy Friday!
TGIF. Note to self: Skirts are harder to trip over :)
I have...rather large lips, they are natural and a little lopsided but they are there. And I love decorating them, I love bright colors but for everyday I look like a clown if I even attempt to smear ruby red loveliness over them. That is not the look I'm going for, so I have been on a mission to find lip colors that I can work during the day...and at a decent price. My goal was two lip looks for under $10. With the first look I just missed the mark...by $.02 but with the second look I was well under my goal. These lipsticks and lip glosses have been amazing for me, long lasting, they stay in place, and best of all they don't dry out my lips. Here they are:
The lipstick is by Rimmel no. 113 and the gloss is also by Rimmel in My Eternity
All of the names of the products are hyper-linked to Drugstore.com where you can get great deals, but you also can get these items at most local Targets/Walmarts/etc.
