How to get Through Strep...

So, it's one of the last few weeks of the summer.... Which means I had to get Strep Throat. Obviously. This always happens. Always. It is the worst. (For those of you that have had it.... you know there is no fun in it... none at all. Nada.) 

But as you know I try to make the best of a crappy (scratchy, swollen throat....fever....death warmed over) situation. I wanted to help any of you out there also get through this as painless as possible. 

My step by step to getting through Strep:

1. Figure out you have strep... they'll probably put one of these on you:

2. Get some medicine for it:

3. Get a crap ton of liquids (soup and tea for me):

4. Take a nap.

5. Take a cold shower....or ten.

6. Watch TV (I chose a marathon of this guy):

7. Shop for clothes on sites that make you feel like you are getting a discount and then you just end up buying more stuff.

8. Try not to pass out from your fever.

9. Try to surround yourself with people that want to baby the crap out of you with back massages and head massages.... if you can't find of those just pay someone at a spa to do it and pretend that they are your actual friend. (And make sure to wear your mask...so you don't get them sick)

10. Finally, don't drink wine with Strep..... I've heard that can be trippy.... that's just what I've heard.

(And make sure you wear lots of makeup....because you can almost fake yourself into believing that you aren't as sick as you really are)

Wha-hair have you been?

Cheesy title much??

I haven't done a makeup/hair update in forever but I have made enough changes this summer to my 'look' to merit an update.... at least I think so.

So here goes. 

This spring I went from my re-virginized hair to an ombre hair look of sorts:

I have to say out of them all this is my favorite and I think it's going to stay around for a while (Yes, my hair grew over six inches in like a week....hush yourself).

It's Summer, Don't hate me.

It has been a BUSY summer. Like, can't sit down for fear I might be late, busy.

I have learned a few things this summer that I think are valuable enough to share on this vast interwebfabness of greatness. (Word: created)

1. Make sure that if you take a road trip, the person/people you're road tripping with appreciate what you like to listen too... if they can't belt out Kid Rock/Sheryl Crow Pictures with you.... don't waste your time. The trip will be super lame.

2. If you are going to an outdoor sporting event, take your own kiddy pool.... and sunblock.... and hammock. (I am not 'one with nature' these days apparently)

3. If you put on a morning face mask... make sure to remove it before you leave the house. Like really.... remove that crap.

4. There are no nudist beaches in Indiana. Okay.

5. Starbucks does NOT deliver, even if you try to bribe them.

6. Just because everyone else eats it doesn't mean you need too, thank you 5 new pounds... my hips love you.

7. Youtube does not qualify as 'social' time. But it still is addicting.

8. Crop tops are actually NOT for everyone. Sadly. Not sadly.

9. If you daughter goes to princess camp...it's not an excuse for you to wear a tiara and glitter.... but you can anyway. Chef don't judge...right?

10. And lastly... If you are going to some sort of a fest... make sure its something fun like a 'Winefest' and then take lots of ridiculously awesome pictures... Like this:

Fashion Friday!!!!!!!!!!!

It's a thing. I just made it one. Because.... I love clothes, deal with it. So I stumbled, willingly with open arms, on to a sight called NastyGal.com....No it's not an inappropriate website, it's actually an addicting clothing website. So I wanted to post a few of the looks that I am lusting after right now. (Not that I can pull any of them off) I love clothing that doesn't make you have heat stroke in the summer, because I am a hot German. Like I get really hot, not that I am 'HOT'....stop thinking I am being conceited!! Anywho, Happy Friday! Here it is: 

Handy I am not: Hammock Addition

Yesterday I decided I needed a hammock, and I was ready to have it right then and there. I needed it. I mean every back yard needs a hammock, right? Let me preface this by saying I am not 'handy'   but I try really hard to prove that I am, at least once a year. This was my moment. I was going to prove to myself once and for all, I am handy.

Then this happened: 

First, we went to Menards.... everyone asked if I needed help. Apparently my fear and uncertainty was radiating... 

Then we got a little distracted....

Then I had a rude awakening: The box was not going to fit (because I had to...HAD to have the puppy divider up. No really, I did.)

I do not have a big trunk you can stick your bike in....sorry.

Here are the steps to successfully (kind of) putting together a hammock: 

1. Figure out how to fit the box in your car

2. Get home, pull the box to where you want your hammock

3. Look at the directions, briefly

4. Put the hammock stand together in 15 minutes

5. Put the hammock on and realize it's the wrong size

6. Go back to Menards

7. Put the hammock together like a boss 

 8. And finally, relax

So, I was successful...and even though there was a hiccup, for once I was 'handy'. 

Success.

Tides are changing.

It is still cold. It is still cold and damp and windy. But can we just pretend that it is warm? That the 'tide' is changing and there is a warm front that is deciding to come and stay for....a few months? I know it is coming soon, but my frozen hands are over this cold and my obsession with bathing suits with no place to go with them is getting a little extreme. Until then we can pretend that the sun is as warming as it looks and we are just a weekend away from 80 degrees.

Spring? Where are you?

It is supposed to be March...right? Why am I watching snow falling outside my window?

I think it's time to close the shades turn the heat up, and pretend that it is balmy out while we watch movies that remind us of Spring/Summer and drink lemonade. That is my plan at least.

I love the snow and cold, when it's winter....but I have graduated from winter and I am ready for some HEAT!
